Hi Carley! My blog was just nominated for the VBA. Is it that whoever has been nominated has won the award?
Also, to nominate other people will it be enough to just put up a post with all the blogs I want to nominate (and the seven facts, etc.), inform them, and leave it at that?
And lastly, to get the badge do you just have to pick a picture from the various blog buttons available and put it up somewhere on your blog? I know I’m asking too many questions, sorry!

I was recently nominated for the “Versatile Blogger Award.” I’ve never been nominated for a blogger award before. I have a question… If I’m nominated and accept the nomination (and follow the rules that the nominator posted), does that mean I have now “won” this award and can now say I have it as an award, or is just a nomination?

Just a feature suggestion for the VBA blogroll …
A list of blogs that another blogger enjoys to read for unknown reasons is of limited value because taste and interests vary widely between readers. I’d like to suggest a network index approach for the list of VBA blogs.
I think people tend to read/follow blogs that in some way related to their interests, and nominate blogs that relate to the theme of their own blog. The population of VBA nominated blogs is most likely loosely organised along a ‘theme tracks’ (focus & interests) and ‘style tracks’ (writing and visual style and personality type preferences) pattern.
It would be great with a way to access that pattern in an organised manner!
For example, if the VBA nominated blogs were shown as the viral network they really are, and if each was labelled with its theme (e.g. design, philosophy, dogs, parent blog e.t.c) then one could find a great blog within a theme of interest and then follow the tracks from there through to more blogs related to same theme and thereby ‘surf around in interest communities’.
Of course that is already possible by finding a VBA nominated blog with a theme of interest, start on its VBA post and follow the nominations from there. However, it would be great with an overview.

How have you other guys chosen your nominees?

I just woke up this morning to a nomination for this. I’m not big on chain letters, but it was still a pleasant surprise. I agree that if you pick quality blogs to share, then the nomination itself is an award. It means someone enjoys your blog enough to include it near the top of their list when telling others about who they follow. I was skimming some of the comments, and would like to suggest an alternative to the chain letter analogy…chain letters have such negative connotations. I think of awards such as these as being akin to “friendship bread”—

I agree — it is a negative idea — I mean, the chain letter. That derogatory label came up in a comment and so I’ve been trying to dispel that idea.

I know little of how it started but yes — it is just a blogger-to-blogger award. I hate to say it, but think of it as akin to a chain letter. Thing is — you can make the VBA whatever you want. If you take careful thought re: who you nominate/award then your nominations will count as true A-W-A-R-D-S, in my opinion.
So, congratulations on your VBA!
