Hi there! it seems this award is focused on english speaking blogs but we would like to propose ours even though we are from Spain, and our blog is in spanish. We are a funny backpacker family traveling around the world with our kids. We have a family travel webserie “Makuteros Family Run” and a blog: http://familyrun-makuteros.blogspot.com.es In our first adventure we travelled from north China to Australia, 14.000 km, 7 countries, public transport and lots of adventures during 6 months. For the next webserie season (3 months travel) we will be traveling through Ecuador – Peru and Bolivia. We depart in less than a month. Isn’t it Versatile? :)) Hope we can share this award with all of you too.

I was nominated many, many weeks ago. I’m wondering if I’ve left it too late to do anything about it. My blog is a small one with very few hits, I get spammers awarding me awards every now and again and I just disregarded the nomination. Looking back at it, it’s genuine and for this award. I feel awful for not doing anything. Is it too late? If not, what do I do? Is there an example? How to you nominate, etcetera, etcetera. Have I won, even? I just don’t know anything. The instructions on here don’t make things much clearer for me. I’m very stupid… as you can probably tell. Anywho, is it too late and what do I do if not? If it’s too late, it’s okay. I don’t have any nominations in two years of doing it so I’m used to it. I can wait another two years. I’ll shut up, now.

Seems difficult to get nominated and to nominate. I have a small following, and I mostly share my contents via Facebook where only a couple other friends blog sporadically. Thought this was a cute way of having your audience get to know you a little better, so, deep breath…
1. After years of avoiding reality TV pop star competions, I have become addicted to The Voice UK-love it!!
2. Those of you familiar with my shortarse status will find this hard to believe but I stopped growing at the age of 12-up until then I was taller than nearly all the boys in my class.
3. I have an inbuilt alarm clock. It’s weird but I’ve always managed to wake myself up on time for work/flights/etc even when an actual clock has failed me.Haven’t needed it as much since Mini moved in!
4. I am a classically trained violinist.
5. I never thought I’d have kids-they always mystified me and I never had much time for them. Mini changed all that and to be honest, I can’t wait to have more!
6. I didn’t learn to drive until I was 27-have chronically bad spatial awareness and awful depth perception, which has led to some bumps and scrapes on poor ol’ Ruby (my car, she’s red!) but nothing too serious. I recommend everyone who can’t drive to add it to your to do list!The sense of freedom driving gives you is awesome and it’s a pretty great feeling too!
7. I really miss working in radio and hope to return to it someday.

There’s been a couple of comments above about the “chain letter” effect – I think we have to take it all at face value – it’s a bit of fun and no-one expects it to be the X Factor or the Nobel Prize or anything. It’s generating interaction between bloggers and as such it’s serving a purpose.

The ‘judging’ process is subjective.
If you like the blog — no matter where it is located on the world wide web, then your nomination is the award!
I’ve written other places on VBA that this award can deteriorate into a “chain letter” effect rather quickly.
Take your time; pick good blogs…

Most definitely, Andreas. I think anyone who examines this “award” understands this. That’s why I encourage people to take their time when nominating blogs and bloggers. If each one sincerely chooses only those blogs which meet high standards in writing and thought, then the award will continue to mean something to each one of us. @ Andreas, I thought exactly the same thing. I totally agree with you. 15 nominations per nominee water it down somewhat. 5 or 7 would be much better.
I could be fun to do the calculation and show how many nominations 15*15*15*15…….. nominations will become over a 5 year period, based on some assumptions:
– Average number of new nominees per nominated person (I bet they don’t all do 15)
– Average rejected nominations per VBA, e.g. because the nominee already has received the award before!
– Average time it takes each nominated blogger to write the VBA post and pass on the award (one month? … It is quite a lot of work)
It would be great to display the viral pattern as a graphic!

1. I love snow. I can sit and watch snow falling all day. Nice warm fire, little workout shoveling it all. It makes the whole world look pure, just for a little while.
2. I don’t like liars, bullies and manipulative people. Although, I think you knew that already.
3. Love bonfires.
4. Love when someone else is cooking, I’ll clean up.
5. Don’t mind mucking out a barn/stalls.
6. I don’t believe all people are bad, however I do believe we have to be aware of bad people.
7. Absolutely LOVE men. 🙂 LOL … (cept the icky ones, then all bets are off)

I was thinking since there is already more than one (and the other one seems to only have 5 nominations instead of this 15, which probably makes a lot more sense) that it would be nice to have various “official” styles for different people’s tastes. I read another blog where the guy really debated about accepting it at all because it was so girly.
that’s why I wanted to email about it.
